Our special school, Saltersgate, provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 20 children to our largest secondary with over 1200 pupils. Gore Glen Primary School is a new school in a fast growing community. It opened in August 2016. It is situated in Gorebridge, Midlothian; an area steeped in history with a large mining community. The new Borders railway line runs through the area and although Gorebridge is only 12 miles from Edinburgh city centre, it is surrounded by rural countryside, cycle routes and walkways. Gore Glen Primary School joins a very successful learning community with 7 feeder schools into Newbattle High School. The learning community works closely to support one another and ensure excellent learning opportunities for all children. Gore Glen Primary School is enjoying a phased entry as the community grows with us. We currently have 7 mainstream classes and a roll of 160 children. The school is expected to grow to a capacity of 15 classes and 420 children. The nursery class also enjoying a phased entry, will eventually grow to a capacity of 60 children in the morning and 60 children in the afternoon. The inclusion area within the school, Glenable, focuses on supporting children with a range of needs and enabling them to engage in mainstream school experiences. Again, this area has been enjoying a phased entry. We currently have 3 classes. Children, families and staff are working together to create a vibrant and happy school community where all individuals are valued and nurtured. Respect and tolerance and the celebration of diversity are integral to our schools’ vision, values and aims. The children in Gore Glen Primary School deserve excellent staff to support their learning, staff who are forward thinking and aspirational for each and every child. Applications are invited from enthusiastic professionals who have the vision and energy to share and promote the high standards planned for this school and who are committed to the development and progress of the school. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing two curricular areas across the school. Experience in leading learning at school level is desirable.
