Our roll is currently 943, and the school is easily commutable from Edinburgh. Key to this is the provision of proper time for teachers to collaboratively plan exciting lessons that stimulate alt learners, and the Preston Lodge Learning Foundation employs a Head of Development to source financial support for this work. Our PT ClaSsroom Practice, our strong Learning Skills programme, our annual Learning Festival, and a highly innovative in-school Teacher Leadership Academy for our staff are just some examples of the focus that we give to this work. Our staff and students work together to develop an understanding of not just what key skills should be learned by students, but how they should be learned and why they are important. Our new curriculum fully meets the expectations of Curriculum for Excellence, with a focus on two year courses at both Higher and National 5 for S4-6 students, and we are increasingly exploring alternative accreditation. For example, we are one of the biggest user of the Open Universities Young Applicants in Scottish Schools scheme. We were the first wireless network High School in East Lothian, and we have introduced a new Bring Your Own Device programme for young people. Further details about the school can be found on our website at Gavin Clark Head Teacher, Preston Lodge High School, Park View, Prestonpans Job Details Subject to the policies of the school and East Lothian Council, the duties of a Principal Teacher, as a member of the school’s management team, is to perform such tasks as the Head Teacher/Depute Head Teacher will direct having reasonable regard to the overall workload of a classroom teacher. This role involves the management and co-ordination of our Inclusion team and is part of a wider Pupil Support Management team. This involves close working with Guidance and Support For Learning staff. The role is to promote inclusion across the school and to support the most vulnerable students with a range of Additional Support Needs in order to reach their full potential. This involves direct teaching, pastoral care, group work and individual work, working in conjunction with our Guidance team and external agencies. It can involve dealing with challenging pupils and situations. There will be a whole school remit within the role of Principal Teacher and there is line management responsibility for two members of staff.
