Community Sessional Workers SPACE

Advert Based throughout various locations in Renfrewshire. The SPACE Project builds further upon the network of integrated services for Renfrewshire’s care experienced children and young people. It aims to enhance children/young people’s opportunities, achievements and outcomes. We are looking for suitably able and motivated individuals who are committed to providing vulnerable children/young people with the service they deserve. We are looking to recruit sessional workers who will be involved in supporting plans to improve outcomes for care experienced children/young people and this may include for example, providing one to one support to attend activities, developing specific individual interests and helping to introduce them to new vocational and social opportunities. As improving attendance and attainment in education is a primary function of this project you may also be involved in supporting a young person in school or with homework on a regular basis. The target group for this project will be young people aged between 5-15 years. They will be care experienced and may have complex needs. You will be part of a team of workers who will be expected to provide advice, guidance and support that will assist the child/young person and their family to overcome issues and barriers they may face. You will be managed and supported by Project Workers under the line management of the Project Officer and where appropriate training will be provided. You should have effective communication skills and the ability to engage with disadvantaged families, children and young people in both group settings and on a one to one basis. It is important that you display skills and enthusiasm to organise and facilitate a range of activities. The ability to cope with situations where conflict may arise is important. Positive role modeling and advocacy are a large part of this role and an ability to manage your own time and prioritise effectively will be required. There are 8 posts available but you must be able to work evenings and weekends and have a flexible approach to meet the needs of the service.
