Vacancy Information Permanent full time position 35 hours per week Monday-Friday To start asap Applications are welcome from both Roman Catholic and Non-Roman Catholic teachers. Roman Catholic teachers will be issued with a permanent contract for St Martin’s RC PS. Non-Roman Catholic teachers will be issued with a temporary contract at St Martin’s RC primary school for a maximum of 4 years. They will be permanent to the authority, and, at the end of the temporary contract they will be redeployed to another primary school within East Lothian as required. St Martin’s RC Primary School serves the needs of Roman Catholic and non-denominational pupils in Tranent and surrounding areas, St Martin’s is a single storey building set in extensive grounds. There are seven classes from PI – P 7 and a 20/20 nursery class. There is a dining room and a gym/assembly hall and a library system running in the school with the support of parent helpers. A co-operative framework of support from home, school and Church surrounds our children. As well as being committed to ensuring every child receives a high quality education and achieves the highest possible standard of achievement, St Martin’s is also committed to celebrating success and working with the wider community. Pupils throughout the whole school are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour and are active participants in the decision making process, The school encourages all staff and pupils to be leaders of learning through the school improvement plan and many new co-ordinator roles have been recently established. Our learning teams support leadership at all levels and we pride ourselves on developing real life skills for life, learning and work. St Martin’s has an active Parent Council and parents are actively encouraged to participate in all aspects of school life. St Martin’s has a newly formed breakfast club and an after school club. Our staff also offer a wide range of after school clubs including a variety of sports and expressive arts. Please Note: Teachers who join East Lothian Council during the school session will only be entitled to a pro-rata salary and annual leave entitlement until the end of the session. A calculation will be carried out upon commencement and pay will be adjusted in the first available pay period to ensure they are paid correctly. Job Details To undertake class-teaching duties Teach assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction. Develop the school curriculum. Assess, record and report on the work of pupils. Prepare pupils for examinations and assist with their administration. Provide advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education. Promote and safeguard the health, welfare and safety of pupils. Work in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals. Undertake appropriate and agreed Career Long Professional Development (CLPL). Participate in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review. Contribute towards good order and the wider needs of the school. Job Requirements Relevant Qualifications Appropriate primary qualification For Permanent Posts: Full GTCS Registration is required. For Temporary Posts: Full/Provisional GTCS Registration is required. PVG Membership This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
