Job Details Full Address: Post to be based at: YMCA Sports and Community Centre, Princes Road, Redhill, Surrey, RH1 6JJ during term time and YMCA Banstead Children’s Centre, The Horseshoe, Bolters Lane, Banstead, Surrey, SM7 2BQ during school holidays. Exact working hours: Monday to Friday 10:15 – 18:15 with flexibility required during the school holidays. Any further details: Annual Leave: 160 hours per annum plus bank holidays. The holiday year runs from 1 April – 31 March. An incremental increase applies with service and commences after 2 years completed service increasing to a maximum entitlement of 200 hours after 6 years’ service. Due to the nature of the role, annual leave should be taken in term time. Benefits – The post holder will be entitled to free use of the YMCA Fitness Centre, and half price childcare for dependents. There is free parking available at all sites and the YMCA operates a Bike to Work Scheme. About the Role Job purpose: To coordinate and deliver a programme of Ofsted registered out of school childcare and playschemes for children between 4 and 12 years of age, at sites in Redhill (Term Time) and Banstead (School Holidays) After School Club at the YMCA Sports and Community Centre in Redhill and holiday playschemes at the Banstead Children’s Centre. Main responsibilities To coordinate, plan, organise and delivery the Redhill After School Club and Y-Kids Banstead Holiday Playscheme. To work closely with individuals and their families to offer a range of free play opportunities as well as a structured programme of social, play and leisure activities to the varying ages and needs of the children attending the service including arts and crafts as well as sports. To build trusting relationships with parents and families, greeting them at the start of the session, ensuring have all the correct information about the children that attend and ensuring that children are collected by authorised people only. To ensure that parents and carers are kept informed of incidents/ accidents or other issues relating to their children. To work with the Out of School Childcare, Sports & Recreational Activities Manager and the marketing team to promote the YMCA schemes so that attendance figures reach agreed targets in line with budgets. To ensure that all practices within the After School Club and Playscheme adhere to the safeguarding and child protection policy as well as meet Ofsted requirements so that the service offered is of a safe and high standard. To be responsible for the health and safety of children attending all sessions including carrying out risk assessments and ensuring risk assessment checklists are completed daily. To lead a team of play workers and volunteers, and to ensure that the service provided is of high quality and appropriate for the varying children who attend. To take a lead for play work recruitment and training along with taking responsibility to line manage contracted play workers, bank play workers and volunteers. To be the key point of contact for all children’s services playworkers, communicating with them about training, holiday rotas and children’s services updates. To ensure that appropriate care plans and risk assessments are carried out for children with additional needs. To ensure that all children and young people are made to feel valued and enabled to develop and improve self esteem self confidence and positive experiences To work within a budget to ensure that the necessary resources are in place for the YMCA schemes. Where necessary to administer first aid for children who have had an accident as well as medication for children with health issues ensuring that have attended necessary training with regards to this. Undertake any other duties and responsibilities reasonably requested by the Out of School Childcare, Sports & Recreational Activities Manager.
