Business Development Manager – South West THE BANK A new bank who offer a real alternative for small and medium sized organisations looking to make sure that their properties and cash work harder for them. MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE Regional Business Development responsibilities with individual and team goals. Specifically, will have debt and customer growth targets and responsibility for achieving lending volume targets and supporting the overall commercial targets, reporting to the Commercial Director. Responsible for distribution of the bank’s lending products, focusing in particular within their local market and achieving budgeted volume targets. Establishing and then on-going managing of a network of local and potentially national brokers and managing and establishing relationships with both intermediaries and customers. Establishing and then leading Business Development within their designated region. This will include all aspects of Business Development. Responsibility and accountability for executing the bank’s lending and marketing strategy within their region and as part of the bank’s overall Business Development team. Ensuring strong Customer Conduct and TCF values are adhered to, achieving excellent Customer Experience feedback. Responding to local and national market changes and researching and recommending the introduction of new bank products, as and when considered appropriate. Ensuring full compliance with the bank’s policies and procedures, including the adherence to all regulatory requirements. Growing the loan book in a prudent, controlled and measured manner, in accordance with the bank’s credit policies and risk appetite. Supporting the growth of the deposit book and capitalising on opportunities. Establishing and maintaining strong lending processes, controls and disciplines. Enhance and promote the banks image and reputation with local stakeholders and customers. To follow and support the bank culture and to lead by example. To establish the bank as a key player within their region and support local SME ambitions. To provide clear and transparent leadership to the Business Development Officers and ensure a commitment to the banks visions and values. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Strategy, Planning and Staff Establish and build relationships with key regional brokers, accountants and other professional introducers, ensuring they adhere to the bank’s core lending policies and values. Ensure the flow of new business is adequate to exceed goals. Identify and build partnerships with other local professionals to support Business Development. Develop a robust pipeline of new business opportunities and provide monthly updates to the Commercial Director. Develop and build a local personalised relationship model for all customers with a clear focus on speed of delivery and transparency in all dealings. Identify future local Business Development and diversification opportunities within the framework of the bank’s strategic plan. Achieve agreed financial targets across all measures and set appropriate objectives for direct reports. To line manage and provide supervision for the Business Development Officer in accordance with the bank’s management framework. Support and respond to all enquiries and referrals, giving superior customer service at all opportunities. Support the on-going professional and personal development of the bank’s Business Development Officer. Identify and seek opportunities to promote the bank. Lead and manage Business Development activities within their designated Region to deliver winning submissions that promote the bank and differentiate them from their competitors. Formulate appropriate local strategies and plans to see the bank’s overall goals as set by and agreed with the Commercial Director Meet and exceed personal goals as set by the Commercial Director QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Strong intellect, professional approach, directed towards SME customers. Experience within banking and in particular the SME sector including origination, credit and relationship banking. Self-starter, with a flexible but robust approach, good team player, commercial, business focused and pragmatic, able to work independently essential. Ability to develop and manage relationships at key levels in the business. Good organisational and negotiation skills.
