Bank Mobile/Housebound Driver/Library Assistant

JOB PURPOSE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR INTERVIEW, CANDIDATES MUST DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY MEET ALL ESSENTIAL CRITERIA OF THE ATTACHED JOB SPECIFICATION. Assist in the effective delivery of a customer focused frontline mobile library service providing a range of outreach library services and initiatives to service users across East Ayrshire in order to assist with the promotion, delivery and integration of East Ayrshire Leisure’s Business and Libraries Team Plans. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The duties of the post involve Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful applicants for such posts will be required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member in respect of Regulated Work with either or both of these groups as appropriate, or if they are already a Scheme member, be subject to a PVG Scheme Record Update, before any formal offer of employment can be made by East Ayrshire Leisure. Please note:- PVG members’ records are constantly updated with any new vetting information that arises. Any information that is disclosed on a PVG Scheme Record or Scheme Record Update, if relevant to the post being applied for, will be discussed with the applicant prior to any formal offer of employment being made. RATE OF PAY Rate of Pay = £9.42 per hour Hours of Work = “As & When Required” basis. RESPONSIBILITIES 1.) Assist the Library Coordinator to deliver an efficient and effective mobile library service in accordance with agreed customer satisfaction standards and Library Team Plan. 2.) Drive and operate the mobile library vehicle ensuring daily vehicle checks are undertaken and relevant paperwork is completed and submitted timeously, reporting all faults and/or repairs as required. 3.) Ensure the public area within of the mobile library vehicle is safe and fit for use by persons in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation, reporting related issues to the Library Coordinator as required. 4.) Assist in the preparation and effective delivery of local library and mobile library events incorporating activities associated with reader development and learning programmes.
