Advert Renfrewshire Council is recruiting Clerical Assistants to work in public-facing roles within a range of schools throughout Renfewshire. There are various contracts and working patterns available such as term time or 52 week, fixed or mobile working and part or full time, as well as permanent and temporary vacancies. Renfrewshire’s secondary and primary schools, nurseries and pre-5 centres provide education and support to children and their families. Working in the office, you will be a key member of the school’s team, engaging directly with pupils, parents and carers, teaching and support staff, and the school’s management team. Your role here will be highly varied, requiring you to rapidly adapt your style as you deal with enquiries from parents and carers, young children and head teachers all in a matter of minutes. You will be a valued member of the school team working to provide the best education and support we can in order to give our young people the opportunity to realise their full potential. You will need to have excellent customer services skills; have good organisational and time management skills; have clerical experience within an ‘office type’ environment; be able to work to deadlines and respond to last minute requests or changes within a process driven environment; can demonstrate a strong track record of being a team player; have experience using ICT systems for data input, reporting, email and using Microsoft Office for word processing and finance recording; complete tasks to a high quality and be accurate particularly when handling cash; have good literacy and numeracy skills, be sensitive and discreet when dealing with confidential information; be focused working in an environment with background noise and regular interruptions and be committed to providing pastoral care for children. It is desirable that you have an SVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or equivalent; have experience of working with different agencies; have experience in the use of purchasing systems; have experience of responding to changing situations and using your initiative to finding solutions. Our schools are all located on or close to main bus routes and for those who drive to work free parking is provided at these establishments. We are recruiting now to fill the following frontline clerical assistant vacancies: • Option 1 – A school establishment, working part time hours, term time), generally between Monday – Friday but some flexibility dependant on service delivery needs • Option 2 – A school establishment, working 35 hours per week, term time, Monday – Friday • Option 3 – A school establishment, working 35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, Monday – Friday • Option 4 – Mobile/peripatetic worker supporting a network of schools, working 35 hours per week, term time (base when not deployed will be Castlehead High School) • You will be supported by an experienced management team and by the dedicated staff working within the team.
